Great Scott. I -- I think I'm in love. I never really thought that would happen to me. Much less in a situation where it appears my love is reciprocated.
Meadow and I have been dating for a few weeks now. They've stayed primarily on the level of friendly get-togethers. We've learned a lot about each other. She's into Jules Verne, just like I am! And though she's quite family-oriented, she thinks very highly of the pursuit of knowledge. Quite a woman, Meadow Wood.
Recently, however, she began flirting with me rather more openly. Even sending me a little love letter at one point.

I was more cautious and reserved. I've been hurt before in the matters of the heart. I thought it best to move slow, even though I really liked her too. The way she smiles at me after a good night out, the way she listens to my ramblings about mad science and even puts in a point or two, the way her green eyes light up when she talks about kids. . . .
I'm going into a tangent here. What's important is to note down the events of tonight. Because tonight -- I think tonight was a turning point.

We went to that new roller skating rink in town, Rapid Racers. Perhaps not the first place you'd think of when you think of romance -- I know I certainly wasn't thinking of it when I first saw the place. I mean, I'm a fan of bright colors, but really!

The date started off as usual -- just us talking and joking and playing a few games. . . .

I'm not sure what came over me, but -- well, I decided, "what the hell" and asked her to dance with me. Not that I could actually get the word out, but she guessed what I meant.

That was nice. Just us and the music. . . .
Of course, then I chickened out a bit and retreated to make hot dogs for everyone. Though I did notice how nice she looked when I started passing them out.

Still, things were effectively derailed for a little while as a few of the other patrons engaged us in chatting. Not that that part was necessarily bad -- I had a nice conversation, and it appears Meadow did too. It's just -- that's not what you're supposed to do on a date, is it? Curse my shyness.

Luckily, I regained my courage shortly after supper. I caught up to Meadow near the bathrooms, and -- laid on the charm, I suppose. Though I don't know how charming I actually was. I remember saying things like, "You make me feel so comfortable and happy," and "My heart always beats a little faster when you're near." Great Scott -- looking back, I think I was more cheesy than charming!

Meadow certainly didn't seem to mind, though. She was beaming when I finished, turning away nervously and wondering what the hell I'd just done. I'm not the romantic type, I'm a scientist!

Well, she'd say I'm both, probably. She cornered me by the mini-arcade and told me straight out, "Emmett, you are the sweetest guy I've ever met. I don't give two damns if you're mad or not, I love you." And then she kissed me.

We'd kissed before, but -- there was something different about this one. More passion, more -- I don't know how to describe it. All I knew was -- I was happy.

After that, things seemed to get a lot easier. Probably because we weren't trying to hide the fact that we thought of each other as more than friends. We went skating for a bit -- I'm not very good at it.

And we played some of the games available in the arcade.

But, mostly? We couldn't keep our hands off each other!

It was an excellent date. The best one I've ever been on. Thiings with Lucy were never this good. Maybe -- maybe Meadow's the one. I still want to take it rather slow, but -- I'm optomistic, for a change. She promised to leave me a surprise later, so we'll see how that goes.

So, yes. For once, things in my romantic life are going right.

Sorry, momentary loss of dignity. Good thing I'm the only one who reads this journal so far.
All right, I have some stargazing to do. The rest of the world doesn't stop for love. ~~Unfortunately~~.

Dear Diary,
I'll have to make this entry quick. It's been quite hectic around here for a while. Weddings are complicated things to plan! Good thing I have Holden -- he's actually interested in helping me, unlike some men I've met.

In fact, he told me spent today shopping for a new tux! I was surprised. Most men don't do that. Even my own father wore a regular suit to his wedding. But he said he was due for a new formal anyway, and he wanted something special for our wedding.

I'm really lucky to have him. He almost lives at my house now, we see each other so often. He's such a sweetheart, always wanting to hold my hand or caress me. I certainly enjoy returning the affection!

He also likes to give me presents, such as a new stereo. I was a little worried at first, but he assures me being a professional party guest pays fairly well. And it is fun to have something to break the silence around here. And give us an excuse to dance together.

Work is going splendidly. I've moved up from working with plants to working with animals. I'm trying to clone some of the old dinosaurs that used to roam these parts. Herbivorous species, of course. Wouldn't do to have a meat-eater get loose. They're very flexible with my hours, which helps with setting the date. I think we've got something worked out now -- I just need to see what places are available then.
I've been talking to my friends a lot, getting their opinions on what I should do. We haven't actually decided much, but it's fun to talk to them. Especially Emmett. Somebody's finally recognized he's datable material. About time.

Unfortunately, not everyone's being so friendly. People keep automatically assuming that I'm going to destroy the town and thus make preemptive strikes. I've had to pick my garbage can back up five times this week!

It's starting to rub off on Holden too. A few of his friends refuse to talk to him because of our engagement. If they want me to destroy the town, they're off to an excellent start.

All I want is to live in peace and do my experiments. Yes, I've had thoughts about conquering the town, but -- don't all Mad Scientists? And I'm not planning to act on them!

Unless everyone keeps annoying me.

Well. Anyway. Not much else to say. I should call the Chapel of Love and see if they have any openings for the date I want.

I've been a little lax in updating this recently. It's been a fairly busy couple of days.
Goal Review:
1. Complete and activate android. Well, I've got the plans all ready, I'm just short on funds. Luckily, my employers are willing to pay top dollar for my services, so hopefully that situation will change soon.
2. Increase skills to maximum capacity. I'm getting close now with logic, I can feel it. All that stargazing certainly helps. Though I wish I could afford a better telescope.

I'm also coming along quite well creatively. Though I haven't had a chance to excercise my painting skills, I'm getting very good at playing my bass. Certainly better than when I first started!
I'm dedicating a little more time to fitness these days -- I've noticed I'm starting to look a little plump. I'm glad I thought to buy a house with a pool. Most of my colleagues in the Mad community would probably make fun of me for living in such a traditional house, but -- honestly -- I rather like it. It's nice to kick back and take a swim every now and again.

3. Purchase appropriate formal for Emma's upcoming wedding.
Success. I visited Clock Tower Square today for that express purpose. They'd actually come out with some interesting new outfits. I tried on a couple -- they certainly gave the right impression when I looked at myself in the mirror. Mad, but not unapproachable.

I eventually went with a blue set I found hiding in the racks. I think it makes me look very professional. Coupled with a pair of nice goggles. . . .

I also bought the latest issue of "Beyond Belief." Have to keep up with all the emerging news of the paranormal and technological.

A good shopping trip, even if it left me a little scarce on funds.
4. Learn to grow and catch my own food.
I think this is a good measure in case my later actions cause the villagers to come after me with torches and pitchforks. Always best to be prepared for a seige. But I still have a ways to go, it appears. The relatively cool weather makes gardening without a greenhouse more difficult than I'd like to attempt. As for fishing -- my latest effort resulted in my catching a boot and falling into the mud. Needs work.

5. Find a significant other.
TREMENDOUS SUCCESS! Great Scott, I didn't think I'd ever write those words. . . .
My shopping trip today netted me some interesting prospects. There was Nancy, a blonde with a passion for reading (though not science-fiction, to my disappointment);

Madeline, a brunette who moved here from Simlandia and isn't fond of how much it rains here in Eureka;

and Jeannie, a redhead who works as a bartender in the tower itself and shared a couple of amusing job stories with me.

Of the three, I liked Jeannie the most. She was the one I could best hold a conversation with. And, if I may be shallow for a moment, I considered her the prettiest.

Of course, the whole issue of me meeting other women is not exactly high on my priorities. To whit --
I had a date.
Two nights ago, in fact. Meadow Wood called me, we chatted for a bit -- then, out of the blue, she asked me if I wanted to go on a date with her. I was utterly stunned, but stammered out a yes. Like I would say no to any female wanting to spend time with me like that!

We went to that new bar that's opened up, called the Inkwell. Very nice place, not at all like your typical bar. I didn't indulge in any drinks myself. I don't think spending the date unconscious would have endeared me to Meadow.

It wasn't a overly romantic, true love sort of date. More like a meeting between two friends. We talked about how our lives were going and played a few friendly games. Nothing truly major. Though I did find out Meadow's a general in the army! I knew she was part of the force, but I didn't know her rank was so high. Melody Smith's activism appears to be catching on.

We also spent a good portion of our time together playing cards with this old lady named Mrs. CrumpleBottom. Although I've never really played poker before, I picked up the game fast. One lucky hand later, and I was 60 simoleons richer. Luckily, the girls took it well.

I'll admit to showing for a little for Meadow too. I don't know much about poker, but I do know some card tricks. She seemed amused.

Near the end of the date, I got up the courage to do a few more overtly-romantic things, such as complimenting her on her outfit.

I also asked what she thought of me. She said she thought I looked very cute, and she liked my intelligence! Imagine that. A girl liking me for my intelligence. ~~Imagine a girl liking me~~

We even kissed at the end! A short, light kiss, but still! My first kiss in years!

All in all, I had a good time, and I think she did too. I'm still trying to keep my options open (you never know what will happen), but I think I've got a bit of a crush on her. We'll see where it goes.

6. Conquer the space-time continuum.
All right, this one needs some work. Again, lack of funds are my downfall. I can't afford a car at all right now. The flux capacitor is fully operational, though, so that's a step in the right direction.

Well then. I seem to be fairly on-track for most of these. Let's see if I can make some progress on Item 4.

Dear Diary,
Life is good. I've become quite respected in the kitchen these days. The other chefs have learned that my canine traits are not a detriment to me in the kitchen. Really, you think they'd know better than to complain about a species with a superior sense of smell. I think I've earned more money now than any other construct who's held a job. Quite the honor.

Cyd is slowly moving up the career ladder -- he's just been promoted from Test Subject to Lab Assistant. Apparently, his bosses were very impressed with how clean he kept the place between tests. Porthos too has been promoted -- our dog has now become a Seeing-Eye dog for the disabled. We're very proud of him. I think he's proud of himself too -- he jumps into the van every morning so eagerly!

He and I are getting along very well these days. I think he was nervous when he first met me, but now he's much more playful and happy. Of course, that may be because I stuff him full of treats when Cyd isn't looking. I like to gnaw on a few myself, they're quite good.

The tomatoes have come in! 12 of them, fresh and juicy! I credit Cyd for most of the work -- he really likes gardening. I do too, but mostly the digging in the dirt part. Must be my inner dog coming through. We're going to try two plants at once next, before moving on to more delicate crops.

I just hope the wolves don't get to them and ruin things. Just because I'm part-canine doesn't mean I have to like them. Even my inner dog felt revolted when I spotted one rolling in and drinking its own pee. Yuck!

Well, what are you going to do.
Cyd and I are talking about perhaps expanding the house a bit. Now that all three of us are working, we're making a fair bit of money. So far, we've just bought a new easel so we can both paint when the mood strikes us. I wouldn't mind having a slightly bigger place, with maybe a living room and a kitchen that aren't technically the same place.

But frankly, I could live in a cardboard box and still be happy as long as I had Cyd. The newlywed blush may have passed, but we're still very much in love.

Well, I must be off. I heard that there may be shooting stars tonight, and I'd like to see them. Just hope there are no falling satellites like the one that killed poor Dr. Klein.

MELODY SMITH BECOMES HIGHEST-PAID WOMAN IN HISTORY OF EUREKA

Yesterday afternoon, career military officer Melody Smith became the highest-paid working woman in the history of Eureka, with a standing salary of over 1,000 simoleons. "It's really a great honor," Melody told reporters who greeted her after work. "I'm glad to show that a woman can work as hard and earn the same salary as any man in the working world."

Melody Smith is well-known for her feminist activism, including setting up a woman's club and becoming one of the first women to join Etcetera's military. She considers her achievement to be another stepping stone toward truly equality between the sexes. "I'm hoping for a day where only the quality of your work matters, not your sex. Where women can be the primary breadwinners, and men the caregivers, if they so choose."
Melody's philosophy is shared by her husband, Clayton, the well-known detective who broke the case of the Maltese Llama. "I really do enjoy my work on the police force. But Melody is the really driven one when it comes to her career. I'd be perfectly happy to stay home and tend to our son. I have no plans on quitting the force anytime soon, though. I still feel I'm needed on the streets."

The Superior General of Etcetera's army, General Gregory MacNamara, commented, "Melody has been a great asset to our fighting force. Despite early struggles against her fellow enlisted, she has proven herself to be a competent fighter and leader. I look forward to seeing how she does in the future."

WEDDING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Mr. Bartholomew Tannen and Ms. Sandy Bruty were wed June 7th, in a private backyard ceremony. The happy couple were attended by many of their friends, including noted miltary officer and feminist Melody Smith.

Mr. Tannen is one of the top-rated Chefs at La Snootier, the son of Buford and Luanne Tannen. Ms. Bruty is a mailroom clerk at InkCorp, Inc, the daughter of Terrence and Madeline Bruty.
The couple celebrated their nupitals with a small party. The newlyweds have chosen to forgo a honeymoon in favor of relaxing at home.

HOT SPOTS -- READER RECOMMENDATIONS

Reasons to Visit: I found RPG Foods to be a very nice grocery shop. The staff are pleasant, and the cash registers are readily available right in the center of the store. Makes it very easy to pick up food.

There's also more to do than at your average grocery. I remember being very bored as a child when we went shopping because there was little for me to do. RPG Foods has a games room in addition to the grocery room. There's a pool table, a poker table, and a few musical intruments.

There's also a grill outside with its own dedicated food cupboard, so you don't have to snack on your groceries before you even get them home.

Criticisms: The layout can be a little confusing. And the games room, although a nice addition, is still rather adult-oriented. Mainly, though, RPG Foods loses points for actively encouraging the patronage of Mad Scientists and Constructs. It's rather disconcerting to realize such people are welcome here.

I recommend coming here, but keep on your guard, just in case.

My mood immediately plummetted when Free Time refused to install. Suffice to say, I got sufficently disgusted to take another long break from the game.

I won't promise anything, but updates should resume soon. Sorry to anyone who actually reads this.

Well, it's been a busy few days, getting settled into my new home. Nothing was damaged during the move, luckily, and the house itself is very well built, if a touch small. (And lacking a kitchen sink -- I'm forced to do my dishes in the bathroom.)

Ah well, it's only me at the moment. I can worry about additions if and when my love life takes a turn for the better.

Most of my time has been spent studying -- in particular, cooking. I don't have a chef to rely on for my meals anymore, after all, and I don't have the funds to go out to restaurants. That's the one bad thing about this house -- buying it ate up a lot of my savings. I've been living off mostly grilled cheese and the like to conserve grocery money.

I've also been tinkering with a few robots -- not many, since I don't have the funds for much raw material. But selling the completed products does keep me in bread and cheese money. And hopefully I can unlock that final badge soon.

My social life has taken a bit of an upswing -- my first day here, I was greeted by a welcome wagon of a few of my neighbors. (Well, sort of -- they live in Eureka proper.) The first man, Jack Carter, and I got along pretty well. Though he did seem rather nervous when I told him about my degree from Trans Poly U. I suspect fear of Madboys is deeply ingrained into our society. I'll have to be on my guard for vandals.

The woman of the group was quite interesting. Allison Jones is a construct -- a dog/human hybrid. I've never met a construct before, and we had an enjoyable discussion about her life. People still view most constructs as subhuman, which is annoying. A person can't help their birth. If I ever manage to create a sentient robot, I want him to have full rights. At least Allison has beaten the system in one way -- it's rare for constructs to get married. Though I wonder what would happen if she and her husband Cyd had kids?

I didn't really get a chance to talk to the third fellow, Benjamin something-or-other -- he was too fascinated by my bass to care much about me. Well, whatever.
Also, just this afternoon, I got a call from Mackenzie. Turns out she's graduating soon and wanted to get some of her old friends together on an outing. I was only too happy to join, and later that evening found myself at Twin Pines Mall with her friends.

She's certainly popular -- I only knew a few of the people there. Feeling a bit -- socially anxious, perhaps -- I limited my contact mostly to Emma, Meadow, and Mackenzie herself. Though maybe I should have made more of an effort to get to know Benjamin or "Mr. Big" -- meeting Jack reminded me I need more male friends.

Even with my shyness, it turned out to be a pretty fun get-together. We spent a good amount of our time in the coffee shop, sipping the local brews and chatting up our fellow customers. (Incidentally, how much caffeine do they PUT in that coffee? Almost midnight and I'm still wide awake.)

We also visited the other stores for a bit -- Emma found herself quite taken with the birds in the pet shop, while I gave into temptation and spent a little money on a new outfit. Well, not a little money, $200! A bit much for a new suit and coat, don't you think? It's not as if they have to be sewn by hand anymore!

Still, all in all, it was good to see Mackenzie, Emma, and Meadow again. Hopefully I can look forward to seeing them at Emma's upcoming wedding.

Of course, a wedding means I'll have to probably purchase yet another outfit. Emma mentioned it was going to be formal. Thank God I found a good job. I still can't quite believe it -- an electronics company in the western part of the city was advertising for a "time travel consultant!" I applied immediately and was accepted tonight! I'm happy, but I can't help but wonder what in the name of Sir Isaac H. Newton they need one for. Hmmm.

A mystery for another day. If they do have unethical uses in mind, I can deal with it once I have control of the space-time continuum. Right now, I have reports of UFO activity to catch up on.

-Emma: Hello, everyone. Sorry about the long hiatus -- we understand that it has been a while since you last saw an update from us. Rest assured we didn't WANT to go offline.-
-Emmett: The problem was, something in our author's computer decided it didn't like the Sims back in October. A video card driver issue, I believe. She's only just gotten the issue fixed. Every time she tried to load the driver, it wouldn't work.-
-Emma: Not to mention she's had some real life annoyances with her job and such. And NaNoWriMo in November.-
-Emmett: And the fact that's she so paranoid about hurting her computer she was reluctant to do anything drastic.-
-Emma: However, the game does appear to be playing again, so updates should return shortly.-
revison_doc: That is, if MY neighborhood starts working properly.
-Emmett: What?! What's wrong NOW?!-
revison_doc: My college and downtown have disappeared, apparently. She was too afraid to enter to see what happened. My daughter and my best friend are at Academie Le Tour!

Dear Diary,
Well, I'm finally beginning to get properly settled. My house is finished for the moment -- in keeping with my hopes of building a castle, I've constructed myself a little turrett with two adjoining rooms. It's rather -- cozy, but it'll do for now.

I STILL haven't found the time to set up a greenhouse -- I don't think I could on my current budget anyway. The nippy weather makes me leery of growing anything without protection. At least I had the foresight to save my produce from my last days at college. I've been eating a lot of chef salads lately.

I've been spending most of my time continuing my studies. Emmett's thinking caps have been a true blessing in that regard. Especially now that I have a job to consider! The AltaGrow coporation wants me to work for them on plant crossbreeding. They're even giving me a lab for my more privat studies. I start next week! Ooh, it sounds like so much fun! I'm sure my gardening data will come in handy.

Of course, they have strict skill requirements for promotion, so I have to work on those. At least I've knocked their logic requirements off the list -- I finally mastered my chess game! Once I can afford it, I'm going to buy a telescope and try stargazing next.

The townspeople haven't been overly hostile yet -- perhaps a bit chilly towards me, but not overtly nasty. I'm not harrassed when I go to community lots, for example, but neither do people approach me. I've had some minor luck starting up conversations, but nothing beyond that. Sad, really.

They were kind enough to send a welcome wagon around during my first day here. Although I wonder if they were making some sort of statement by sending over a construct in the lead. . . .

Well, it certainly backfired on them -- Allison's a dear! I found her story fascinating. Not many of the constructs I knew back home could have kept a job, much less found a mate! It's really sad that she can't have children. I'd offer to help, but I'm not sure how she'd take it. Too early in the relationship, I bet -- I'll wait until we know each other better.

Benjamin Long was also nice. He warned me that there were a couple of people here that would try to run me out of town on the slightest provacation. I'll be on the lookout for these "Tannens."

Of course, the person I'm really looking forward to seeing again is Holden. We're planning our wedding right now -- still trying to decide between Twikki Island or Three Lakes for the honeymoon. A honeymoon on the beach sounds lovely, but the mountains might offer more varied flora and fauna. . . .

Well, we have time to figure it out. At least I've finally managed to pick up some proper clothing for our nupitals! And for everyday as well -- the "modern" outfits I chose just don't suit me. I'm not sure if my new dress quite goes with my hair, but it'll do.

Oh, it looks like the money trees need watering and harvesting. I've never been so glad that I created these -- I'm just barely getting by at the moment! At least I have a ready job waiting. And when Holden moves in, he'll bring a dowry of sorts. I can last until then.

MALTESE LLAMA RECOVERED!

The famed Maltese Llama of Kirkboten was recovered yesterday in a daring raid on the Future Fest nightclub. Lead by then-detective Clayton Smith, a group of police cornered the theives in the process of making a back-alley trade of the Llama for various drugs. After a brief scuffle, the theives were taken into custody. The Maltese Llama, a famous scuplture by the great artist Andrea Maltese, went missing three months ago after the museum it was being displayed in was broken into. Police were initially stumped by the disappearance, as the perpertrators were very careful to cover their tracks. Detective Smith was eventually able to discern their identity with the help of an informer, whom he only called "Ruth."
"Yes, it was a frustrating couple of months," Mr. Smith told reporters. "The birth of my son coincided with Ruth stepping forward, so I've had to juggle my personal and professional responsibilities. I'm just glad it all paid off in the end. I'm looking forward to taking some time off to spend with my child."

In recognition of his heroism, Mr. Smith has been promoted to full Lieutenant. The Maltese Llama is currently being stored at the Eastwood Museum, where it will be on display for the rest of the month before being shipped back to Kirkboten.

Dear Diary,
I finally did it! Sous Chef! They said I wouldn't make it, but I did! Ooh, was Barty Tannen mad! It was worth all that struggle just to see the look on his face. I don't think I've felt this cheerful in a long time.
Cyd's still working on finding a job -- he's considering answering an ad for a "Test Subject" for one of the big labs. I'm a little worried -- being a test subject of sorts myself, I know how dangerous it can be. And not every Mad is as kind as Dr. Klein was. Still, though, we could use the extra money. Hmm. I hate dilemmas.
In the meantime, he's been keeping busy at home -- painting and working on his base skills. He's quite enamored with that thinking cap.

It does clear up your head wonderfully for learning. I use it frequently for my own skilling. I'll have to write to the creator -- Brown, wasn't it? -- and ask about another. One's not enough for this household.

Porthos is doing well -- he and I are getting along splendidly these days. He's such a friendly little dog!

Not even the villagers who pass by can resist his face.

He's also the pluckiest little dog I've ever met. Cyd told me this night over dinner about how Porthos faced down a wolf! Brave little dog, to be sure. But I'm glad he didn't get chewed up as a consequence!

Not much else to say. The tomato plant is doing well -- once we see how the harvest is, maybe we'll try a proper garden. Would be nice to have some fresh fruits and veggies from the garden. Though the canine in me wants fresh meat. Too bad hunting is outlawed except by special government teams. I'd like to try my hand -- or, rather, my nose -- at it.

Uh-oh, I'd best end this entry. Cyd's giving me that look again.

I know I've been a little remiss in writing in this journal lately, but I've been extremely busy. First off, I received an unexpected letter from home. I never expected to hear from any of my family again. But at the beginning of last week, I got this:
Dear Emmett,
I know this letter has been late in coming, but I've only just managed to convince your father that I should send it. Things have quieted down tremendously in the four years that you've been gone. I doubt most of the villagers would even remember your name at this point. I would love for you to come home, but Elias has absolutely forbidden it. I doubt you would be happy here anyway. No labs, no experiments -- not a thing you could work with. You'd be much better off staying where you've settled -- Eureka, was it? I'm afraid I only know the general address of your college.
At any rate, I'm writing mainly to let you know that I've gotten your father to give you your inheritance. We've transferred 20,000 simoleons to your bank account for use in buying a home. Elias was very reluctant, but I told him that you had to live. Regardless of your mental state, you're still our child, and I will not abandon you completely to the cold world.
I hope the money helps with whatever you've got planned. I'll try to write again if I can. I love you, Emmett.

You'll have to excuse me, just reading it over makes me a bit emotional. . . . And I can hardly believe she convinced my father to let me have any money at all. I get the feeling she told him that the more simoleons I had on-hand, the less likely I was to come home. Oh, Mother, I'll miss you. . . .
Anyway, after getting that windfall, I had a lot to do. I purchased a house -- 121 Lloyd Road -- and bought some cheap furnishings with the money I had left over. I'm going to be very poor for a while. Good thing I was able to make my college funds stretch so far.
I spent most of my remaining time at college crafting robots. I worked like a madman, constantly tighting bolts and screws, shaping metal parts, linking up wires and delicate electronics. I barely slept or ate. Even my time sense occasionally failed me, which is exceedingly rare.

Despite all this -- despite all the hydrobots, sentrybots, cleanbots, and toy robots I made -- I didn't get my gold badge. Ugh. What a disappointment. Perhaps my time would have been better spent skilling. Or working on my flux capacitor design (I'm still giddy it works, but there are one or two bugs to be worked out). I'd better not be too far from my ultimate goal, that's all I can say. At least all my creations fetched a good price from the campus staff. Helped a LOT when buying furniture.

I did manage to tear myself away from my bench at times. I had to let my friends know about my graduation. Brady suggested we go out to celebrate, but I declined. I kind of wish I'd taken him up on the offer now. . . . And of course Professor Jill had to say goodbye. She was very cold on the phone. I can stand that, though. It certainly beats her stalker-like behavior of before!

And of course I had to make sure my cooking skills were up to snuff. They appear to be, so I'm off the hook there. My new home apparently comes with a pond, so I'm looking forward to honing my fishing skills. It's more out of necessity than pleasure, given I have $374 left after getting the house settled and all my things ported over. Good thing I kept my latest crop of vegetables.

I also switched gears for a bit and did a little crafting at my toy bench. Although my true love will always remain with robots, I find I like making toys. The Twirl, Spin, and Wobble toy looked like a lot of fun. Too bad it was too small to support my weight. Well, I'm sure the local orphanage will like it. Hmm, that's an option I don't think I've properly considered. Adoption. . . .

Well, that's not going to happen anytime in the near future, so I'll put that idea on the back burner, so to speak. Besides, I'd like to have children the natural way as well. Chris tried to give me some tips on meeting women during our last breakfast together -- nothing I didn't already know, but I appreciate the sentiment. Our relationship has really changed since my freshman year. Back then, I thought I'd never get over the hurt of her laughing as that cow socked me with a pillow. Now we're almost friends. Funny how life works, isn't it?

Great Scott, college seems so long ago now that I'm off campus. I can barely believe I was there not five hours ago, relaxing on my bed as I waited for the taxi to arrive. Strange how our time perceptions can warp so easily.

Hmmm. I don't think buying some current style clothes was the best use of some of my money. These jeans feel a little tight, and the jacket itches. They'll do until I can get settled better, but I think I'm going to go back to my old style. Those clothes stand up better to oil and grease anyway.

And here we are! I'll end things here -- I have to go and make sure all my possessions made it here safely. It would be a catastrophe if anything was lost or damaged in transit! If they've done anything to my time travel chamber. . . .

Or, more accurately, en route from Trans Poly U to my recently-purchased plot of land in Eureka -- 88 Brown Way. (Heh, how amusing -- it's like the town planners knew Emmett would be coming.) It's amazing, I never thought I'd be able to afford my own home so soon after college. But just two days ago, a letter arrived from home from mother and father. Father not only admitted he shouldn't have doubted my abilities as a Mad Scientist, he gave me $20,000 to set up my life in Eureka! Isn't that wonderful? I shall have to invent something suitably nice to send back as a thank you present.
Anyway, my last days at the university have been quite and, for the most part, nice. My garden thrived in my last hours there -- I've progressed up to a silver badge level. Soon, soon I will unlock the mysteries of communicating with flora. Then all shall bow before me!

Though, currently, I'll settle for the tomatoes bowing. They took an awfully long time to produce fruit -- I had to harvest in my graduation gown! The cucumbers weren't nearly as much trouble.

I finished my last painting on-campus, which sold for a respectable 284 simoleons. Quite a long way from the girl who could barely handle paint, isn't it? I'm very proud of myself.

In fact, I bought myself a bass to celebrate! And it turns out I have a natural ear for music -- my dormmates were willing to tip my first tentative efforts.

Given this, I think it's safe to say I've learned all I can about the creative process. Oh, Daddy really will be proud when I tell him that!

My other skilling has gone well -- I know how to cook for myself (despite the cafeteria worker's relentless hovering),

I'm keeping fit and healthy with my yoga program,

And my chess game is near-perfect, if I may say so. I'm considering upgrading to stargazing for the logical aspect. Mapping the heavens seems like quite the interesting pasttime.

I'm afraid to say that my very last hours at Tras Poly U were not what they could have been. My idea had been to hold a party for my dearest friends. Unfortunately, not only was the weather simply dreadful, two of the guests couldn't make it -- Holden had to attend some state functionary's party (he begged for time off, but they wouldn't release him -- I have noted the man's name and will be deposing him as soon as I am able), while Goopy had a fashion show in Sturmhalten and thus didn't recieve the invitation at all. Only Mallory, Mackenzie, and Emmett were able to make it.

Despite these setbacks, we had a fairly good time. The girls had dressed up for the occasion (Emmett had spilled motor oil on his, tsk tsk), and we shared gossip and ate snacks.

There were also many renditions of the school cheer. Oh, I'll miss yelling that. . . . "Mechanics to the left, biology to the right, rise our creations and fight fight fight! TPU, TPU, Goo TPU!"

It was a fun time -- lots of games and merrymaking. Mackenzie is disturbingly good at rock paper scissors. I wonder what her secret is? Merely good reflexes, or something more?

Sad to say, all good things must come to an end. I said my goodbyes and promised to stop by if Emmett had his own celebration. I doubt he will -- he's not particularly social, and besides, he has a Gold Robotery Badge to earn -- but it's always good to offer.

Then, I changed into my "adult" clothes. I was trying to blend into current fashions, but -- I think the shirt shrunk! I shall have to rectify that as soon as possible! Not only is it a little indecent, it's also rather cold. . . .

At least the taxi is heated.

Ooh, we're almost there! I shall wrap things up here -- I have a lot to deal with in the upcoming days! Not the least of which is starting work on my castle. (Though on my current budget, I may have to settle for a turret.)

I'm going to try and keep this one short, as I'm not feeling entirely coherent. I've finished another robot, this one dubbed the Munchiebot. It took me almost all day to get the inner workings correctly calibrated.

It was nightfall before I got a chance to activate it. It works much like a sentrybot, except that instead of a resident DNA scanner, it has a resident hunger scanner, calibrated to sense the soft rumblings of an empty stomach. Once those sounds reach a certain critical point, it goes out and automatically purchases food. Mine had no need to do that, so it just hovered around. I sold it to another dorm -- one student there said it would be good when they needed to cram but were too hungry to concentrate.

I did take a few breaks, at the insistence of my body. Breakfast with Randall (I've learned how to make omlettes);

and a prolonged afternoon rest break when my back started hurting quite a lot. If only flesh and blood weren't so sensitive. I hesitate at turning myself into a cyborg, though -- I'd probably lose legal rights. (Not to mention, I don't really care for the sight of blood.)

With so little time left to me before I have to move, I think I'll restrict my projects to smaller, less time-consuming ones. Toy robots are very easy to make and fetch a decent market price, I'll concentrate on those. I'm not giving up until I get my Gold Badge!

I also tried digging up the yard in an attempt to find something interesting -- a visiting alumni told me that former students often buried interesting treasures around the campus for future generations to find. All I came up with was a interesting-looking rock I was able to pawn off on someone for 25 simoleons.

And this is where I leave, since all that digging made my back hurt again, and I'm frankly exhausted. Hopefully I'll have something more interesting to report tomorrow.

I'm as giddy as a schoolgirl! Which, I suppose, is perfectly appropriate, as I'm not required to leave school yet.

I just had the most PERFECT date with Holden! We went back to the location of our first date, Dubon Henri's. I told him all about the last days of school -- he was very pleased to hear about my graduation. I think he's a bit jealous that he didn't get a chance to attend college, the poor dear. I shall have to see about lending him textbooks if I can. Does Trans Poly U have a mail-order course?

Neither of us were very hungry, so we moved into the ballroom. I turned on the radio, and we enjoyed a lovely slow dance. Holden is very smooth on his feet.

After that, it's a bit of a blur -- we were both consumed by love. He's such a dear! I think we may have gotten a bit -- "hot and heavy," but I don't care. There's no one in the world I'd rather be that way with.

Then, once I'd gotten my wits back, I decided to do it. I had the ring ready, the atmosphere was perfect, everything was in favor of me doing it.
I proposed to Holden.
AND HE SAID YES!

My Holden said yes! I've never been happier in my entire life! Who cares if it was improper for me to ask, as Mother will surely accuse me -- HE SAID YES!

There was really nothing to top that moment -- the date seemed almost pointless after that. We joined in on a group of people dancing -- my goodness, but is modern dance hard to perform! I'm much more used to ballroom. Luckily, it didn't seem anyone was any better than me, so I didn't stick out like a sore thumb.

There were also some people doing something called the Smustle -- that was easier and much more fun. I think I shall see about dance lessons or something of the sort when I move into my new home.

Still, this has to qualify as one of the best evenings of my life! Holden and I will be married once I get settled into Eureka. That shouldn't take more than a month or two. I wonder what season it will be? Summer? Winter? I shall have to plan my outfit accordingly. Or, better yet, manipulate the weather to my advantage! Best shoot for two months before marriage, then. Oooh, will I be able to wait that long?

Though I find it a bit hard to concentrate, I suppose I should mention the things that don't involve Holden. The rain has continued, making the outdoors miserable most of the time. There have been some spectacular displays of lightning, though. (Luckily no additional fires.)

All the rain also nearly overwatered my plants! I spend all that effort getting the watering cycles JUST RIGHT, and these storms come in and ruin it all! Another incentive for me to figure out how to control the weather.

My skillwork, at least, is going fine -- I'm particularly proud of this latest painting. Hopefully soon I'll be a recognized master of the craft! Then at least art galleries will bow down before me.

I also made a rather silly experiment -- Emmett dared me to puree that boot I bought, so I went ahead and tried it. I expected it to taste awful, and it did. But I didn't expect that whatever chemicals they use to treat the leather would act as hallucinogenics! My memories are rather muddled, but I recall laughing at invisible elves, fighting against gnomes, and being badly shocked by an evil flamingo. Never again!

Speaking of Emmett, I must tell all my friends the news! Oh, I'm sure they'll all be so excited! Though I fear Emmett will get depressed. . . . I'm sure he'll find someone eventually, though. I did, right? I'll go tell them right now!

Great Scott, I feel like a master craftsman! I completed three projects today! Three! It's enough to make a man want to run down the street, yelling his accomplishments for all to hear. And I must admit, I'm rather tempted, even if night is falling.
First off, I completed my Sentrybot. The activation test went fine -- it hovered around, searching for intruders, then "rested" above its base upon finding none. I've made a present of it to the Dean, in thanks for letting me attend the school.

I also later whipped up another Hydrobot for the gardeners. Now that I've had some practice with this bench, the smaller robots seem pathetically easy. I wonder. . . . Once I achieve the highest level, could -- could SENTIENCE be possible?

I also made a nice kite at the toy bench -- my first high-level toy. They're harder to make than you might think. The wood has to be just right, the cloth has to be pre-stretched. . . .

I couldn't resist testing it out. Though I'd never flown a kite in my life, I think I did pretty well. It stayed up in the air and followed my motions, at any rate. Too bad I had to sell it -- maybe I'll start keeping a few of these toys.

In other news, I've gotten myself a juicer. Emma seems to be having fun with hers, so I thought, "What the hell." I've already made myself a glass of tomato juice -- talk about delicious! Though a bit warm for a spring day.

I also visited the new Eureka General Store (construction just finished a little while ago) for a small treat for myself. I've always loved timepieces as part of my fascination with time, so I spent some money on a pair of fine watches. My shirtsleeves keep falling over them, though, which is rather annoying. I really need to pin them up or something.

Considering it's nearing the end of my time here at Trans Poly U, my goal for myself is to become a robotics master. I've done quite well for myself skill-wise, and I think I'll be able to handle anything that life throws at me. I really would like to see how far I can get in my training before I'm forced to leave. The idea of being able to create life in some form or fashion -- it's what every Mad Scientist dreams of! I must try!
Rosemarie was just reading over my shoulder and told me not to get too crazy. Heh. Well, I suppose I can spare a few moments here and there for social interaction. Meadow's become a fairly good friend, and of course I'm reasonably close with my dormmates. I don't think they quite understand, though.

I'm going to talk to Emma before I suffer another fit of depression. That is, if the rain lets me -- it's been storming quite heavily this evening. The lightning almost makes it look like daylight. I wonder if we're going to lose pow

Goodness, it's been stormy as of late! I have no idea what could have possibly brought on all this rain. It seems we can't go two hours without some sort of storm.

Why, not yesterday, lightning hit the tree right outside the dormitory! Luckily the heavy rain put out the resulting fire near-instantly. Otherwise, we could have had a disaster on our hands.

I'm quite ready for it all to stop, myself. Weeding cucumbers and tomatoes in the rain in my nightgown is about as far from fun as I can imagine.

I can still barely believe I'm a graduate. It seems unnatural, somehow. Of course, I'm proud of my achievement -- not everyone graduates Summa Cum Laude -- but still. This is the end of an era. At the end of May, I'll have to move out into the real world. I'm quite nervous -- not nervous enough to go running back to my parents, of course, but nervous. I have such big plans for my life -- will I be able to see any of them realized? Oh, I do hope so.
At least I have plenty to do to distract me from my nerves. My apple tree has continued to flourish -- it makes me sad to think that this may be the last time I ever harvest fruit from its branches.

I'm continuing my skill training. Graduation is no reason to slack off. I've gotten quite well at everything, though my charisma still needs a little work. Given the attitude toward Mads in Eureka, I'm going to need plenty of it, I'm sure. On the plus side, my painting has improved tremendously. Quite a long way from my first tentative attempts in oils!

I'm also reviewing the notes I've taken on the various gardening experiments I've run. Wouldn't do to lose that information. I'll need it when I get a proper lab. I also have to remember to finish up my juicing experiments. I'm tempted to puree that boot I caught, just for a lark. . . .

And of course there's my friends. I've been talking a lot with Goopy (what a name) and Mackenzie lately. They're both very nice -- Goopy is apparently a fashion designer of sorts, while Mackenzie is studying Art here.

All in all, it's been a good end of the semester. I'm looking forward to my last days here.
Though if I catch the fool who knocked over our garbage. . . .

Dear Diary,
Well, Cyd's last interview led to nowhere. And it would have been such a good job for him. It's awful how they won't even give him a chance, just because he's married to me. Cyd's been talking about going to somewhat less savory people in hopes of getting employment -- I'm torn about the idea. I want Cyd to feel useful, but I also don't want to fear for his life every time he leaves the house!
It's not all bad, however. Although Cyd may not have a job, Porthos does! One of the local factories needed a vermin catcher, and Porthos was accepted near-immediately. I have no doubt he'll do well, and the extra money will do us good.

Cyd also surprised me with an early anniversary gift (one year tomorrow!) -- a new bath! This one comes with a shower, which should make bathing MUCH easier.

I've made my own purchase as of late -- this young man from the local university was selling these strange hats with lightbulbs on them. He told me they were literal thinking caps. I was quite intrigued and bought one.
And it's BLOODY FANTASTIC! The villagers are fools to dismiss it -- I felt wonderful, wearing it! And it made learning skills ever so much easier!

I think I may find that boy again and buy one for Cyd too. I'm sure my husband would love it -- his life revolves around improving his skills. What was his name, Everett? No, Emmett, that's it. Emmett Brown. I'll call him tomorrow.

That reminds me, I also want to see about having a little get-together soon. Cyd and I may be outcasts, but we do have a few friends. It would be wonderful to get everyone together for a little party or something. The only problem is, when is everyone free. . . .

Well, I'm sure I'll figure out something. I can at least be assured of Joe and Ivy coming, whenever it is -- we've gotten very close. Probably from all the horror stories we've all shared from being in the food industry.

Oops, looks like I'll have to end this entry here -- Porthos wants my attention. He's such a sweet little dog. Yes, Porthos, I'm coming.

The end is nigh! Soon the world will recognize my genius, and -- well, I don't really want them to cower before me. I'm not planning on doing anything HARMFUL to the space-time continuum. I live here too after all. I think my rant needs a bit more planning.
Er, anyway, I've completed the construction of my flux capacitor. Now I just need to secure my temporal displacement chamber. My design for the final will be a simple stainless steel chamber that revolves on its axis. But my final design will be something a little more mobile. I saw an example of what I wanted the other day while out on the town -- a statue of a DeLorean sports car, dedicated to the builder by his son. The vehicle would be perfect for my needs! Undoubtably pricey, though. . . .

I've been going down to Mad Hill Valley quite a bit these days, it seems. There was that trip with Emma, which was quite enjoyable (except when that old woman began lambasting me for being in a bathing suit). Then Brady invited me down to Twin Pines Mall for a friendly get-together in the local coffee shop. It was nice to see him in person -- we chatted about all sorts of things, ranging from my studies at Trans Poly U to his own work as an entertainer.

I also visited Future Fest again on my own, just to get away for a bit. I met a nice woman down there named Meadow Wood. She and I had a nice chat -- she seemed quite interested in my college life. And she was very cute --

NO! I have ABANDONED that line of thought! I am NOT looking for a girlfriend! I really wish my friends would understand this -- Emma's been asking about my dating life again. I think she feels she has to set me up somehow.

But I don't care anymore. I enjoy having female friends, to be sure, but adding in romance just seems to ruin things. I'd much rather have Meadow as a companion rather than a romantic partner by this point.

Besides, it's probably inconcievable she'd ever like me like that. What girl has yet?

Anyway -- life continues, despite my social inadequacies. I've been pouring a lot of hours into my sentrybot -- it's almost ready to be activated. Though given the low crime rate, I'll doubt it'll do much. . . .

And given our cook's continued prelidiction for starting fires, perhaps I should have made another cleanbot. Suppose it's good for my skills to get in a little regular cleaning, though.

My schoolwork has been rather draining as of late. I enjoy working out the kinks of temporal theory, of course, but even I tire of calculating equations. I try to take as many fun breaks as I can. The energizer has been invaluable in this regard.

My tomato plant also finally gave up its harvest -- 10 bright red tomatoes. I don't think I'll be planting anything new, though -- too close to the end of the semester. Great Scott, it feels like only yesterday I entered this university. And now, here I am, due to graduate. What a long, strange journey it's been.

Well, that went much better than my last attempt at an outing! I think everyone geniunely had fun this time, crankly old lady aside.
As it's getting closer to finals, I thought I should take my circle of friends out for some pre-test fun. After all, I'd finally finished my term paper -- I thought I could use a break. We chatted it over and decided to try out one of the local nightclubs, Future Fest.

We had a lovely time! Everyone's initial reaction was to gather around the pinball machines. Not that I can blame them -- I quite enjoy arcade games myself. I spent most of the first part talking to Emmett -- he's always a little shy in social situations. I suppose being run out of town by a mob will do that. . . .

After a little time, though, he loosened up and began to join in the fun properly.

A lot of our time was spent in and near the hot tubs. It was a bit disconcerting to see that Noelle and Mallory not only have the same face, but the same bathing suit. If Mallory took down her hair, I doubt I could tell them apart. (Cloning? The late Dr. Klein was said to be a biologist.)

At any rate, Emmett and I were glad to join them for a soak. Though we must have looked a bit strange in our larger, more concealing bathing suits. The styles these days tend toward minimization. I don't think I'd ever be quite comfortable in a binkini, though. And I genuinely like my sailor suit, never mind how childish it may look.

Then this awful old woman came up to us and started yelling about how we were all underdressed! What business what is of hers? And I could possibly understand about Holden (though I quite liked seeing him in his suit), but Emmett?!

I've learned that this woman is named Mrs. Crumplebottom, and she unfortunately owns quite a lot of land in Eureka. Apparently she's opposed to anything "morally degenerate," and has been known to attack people on dates with her purse! Thank God she didn't do anything when I kissed Holden. Hmmm, perhaps she needs a little -- tweaking. . . .

Well, despite her interference, we all had fun. Emmett and Kennedy were in quite playful moods. I've never seen that many water balloons thrown in such a short period. Then again, it was appreciably hotter downtown. It probably was the best way to cool down.

Left a horrid mess on the floor, though. I tried to clean up a bit before leaving, to save the staff the work.

Still, an excellent day! I took some photos in the photo booth to remind me of it. I'll have to get a set with Holden some day too. . . .

Life has been fairly quiet otherwise. Assignments take up most of my time now -- this last semester has been the hardest yet. I cannot wait to graduate and put all this behind me at last.

My garden is doing quite well. I'm looking forward to getting in one last harvest before quitting this place.

I'm also working to widen my social circle a bit. Holden's introduced me to a few of his friends -- I'm looking forward to getting to know them better. And Emmett sent over his friend Mackenzie to meet me. She was simply a dear -- we had so much to talk about! (Makes me wonder why he doesn't ask her out, but then again, perhaps he sees her as more of a sister.)

Oh, I'm exhausted after everything that's happened. I'd best get some sleep. I have to do a final proofread on my paper tomorrow, and I don't want to mess anything up.

I am still in my 'forget girls, I need MALE friends' phase. It seems to be working out well for me. I've made the friendly aquaintance of a fellow named Brady. He's interested to hear about what goes on here at Trans Poly U. It's always nice to meet someone who doesn't care that I'm Mad.

I've also tried to reach out to my fellow male dormmates, with less success. Randy isn't around much (his class schedule is rather erratic), and conversation with Garrett can get -- awkward. I wish I hadn't noticed him swooning over me. . . .

Well, such is life. At least my mechanical creations are doing well. I've made at least twenty various toys in the past month! I'm sure I've worked my way up to silver level. I can't wait to start on kites and twirling toys. There's only so many times you can make clown-in-the-boxes. I'm sick of the damn things.

I've also had a great new idea for a robotic security system. I suspect the project will take me the rest of the semester to complete, but it'll be worth it, I'm sure. And it makes a nice break from working up the flux capacitor.

Speaking of which, I'm very pleased with my last term paper explaining the project. The words just flew right out of me. I feel certain I'm going to get an A. I can't wait to finally test the design out!

Not much else to report here. Still working on my skills. Cooking has taken on especial importance, as the dorm 'chef' nearly set himself on fire the last time he tried to make pancakes. Thank God the school sees fit to install sprinkler systems!

Well, I have my plants and my fish. Fresh cucumbers sounds good for a salad -- think I'll wait until my tomatoes have born fruit too to cook them up, though.

I should get back to work on my Sentrybot or my flux capacitor -- time's awasting! For now, mwhahahaha.

Not particularly much to report today. I've restarted my garden with an extra plot -- I'm growing cucumbers and tomatoes this time. Hopefully I won't overwater these like I did the strawberries! I think I've got everything calculated right now, though.

I'm still experimenting with various juices. Strawberry juice proved to be very sweet. I enjoyed it, but I have a bit of a sweet tooth anyway -- it may be too much for others. Perhaps subsituting an apple for some of the strawberries might cut down on that? I shall have to enlist Noelle's help -- she's the one who's shown the most interest in my experiments. And she's a good friend in general.

My mathematics class has gotten quite difficult as of late -- I've really had to sweat over a few of my assignments. I'm getting a bit worried about how my term paper is going to do. I think I might give this one an extra revision, just to make sure it's the absolute best I can produce. Would be terrible to get a poor grade so close to graduation.

My skilling work is going all right -- I'm starting to become fairly competent at yoga.

I'm also getting plenty of practice in cleaning. It disgusts me how dirty my dormmates let things get! I'd ask Emmett for a cleanbot, but he's told me it only works on floor-based messes. Darn the luck.

I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised, considering how clean some of them keep themselves. I am so glad Emmett's off Debbie.

Other than that, it's been the usual round. I'm looking forward to when I can get my studying done without so much distraction -- the school allows you to stay for a few days after graduation to get your things together and do a little last-minute studying. I intend to take full advantage of that.

I suppose I may as well end here -- I have to check on my new plants. Hopefully soon I'll have something more interesting to talk about.

Goals:
Skilling: Taking a backseat at the moment. I intend to start up my studies again shortly, though. Especially cooking. Our dorm chef is getting disturbingly prone to fires. Good thing the janitoral staff likes the cleanbots so much -- I can test-run them on the puddles left by the sprinklers, at least.

Badge-Building: I can report great success here! I have earned myself TWO silver badges -- one in robotics, and one in gardening! Practice does indeed make perfect.

Oddly enough, though, the new badge levels seemed to have summoned in a bit of bad luck. My latest cleanbot had an electrical fault -- I had to make some repairs before sending it out.

And I've somehow managed to overwater BOTH my cucumber and tomato plants. . . . They seemed to have recovered now, at least. Still, that's embarrassing. You think after doing it for two years, three months, three weeks, and three days (approximately), I'd have the basic mechanics down by now.

Finding a Mate: Let's not go there.
General Thoughts: At least things remain good in the friendship arena. Though part of me rebels at being seen as "just friend material." Well, nothing for it -- I'm not changing the fundamentals of who I am for a girl. I'd never be able to live with myself. (Not to mention I don't think I could do it in the first place.)

The garden, when it's not being overwatered, is thriving. Hopefully this latest setback won't stop me from getting a good crop of vegetables this season.

Schoolwork is interesting. I'm working on a model of my flux capacitor for my senior project. Great Scott, I can't wait to finally run my first time travel experiment! It's been a long time in the making. (Not to mention two shorted-out prototypes. I think I've gotten the power requirements sorted, though.)

I'm also making more plans for slightly more "mundane" inventions (if you can call anything invented by a Mad "mundane"). My energizer should come in handy now. I've been using it quite regularly. Nothing like a good electrical rush.

Speaking of which, I have to tend to my money tree. It's been doing a bit poorly lately -- I think it needs more water. (Watch, I'll overwater that too. . . .)

Dear Diary,
It's been a very -- interesting -- start of term. One hopes such events won't continue throughout my final semester here at Trans Poly U. But I suppose that, as long as there are cow mascots, there will be incidents. I'd actually rather have the streakers, scandalous as that may sound. The streakers don't get into fights with random students! Not that I know of, at least.

Poor Kacper -- that cow (Emmy? My word, it disgusts me that she shares a variation on my name) gave him quite the thrashing! I'm surprised he didn't have to visit the university hospital. We're all pitching in to help him recover -- I'm helping him draft out his term paper. He's a philosphy major, it turns out, and quite thoughtful.
The cow also has been bothering the other classmates in less painful ways -- shoving, burping in their faces, all sorts of horrid things. Needless to say, tempers are running quite high when it comes to the mascot. I should consider myself lucky I escaped molestation. Perhaps the common perception of Mads has some advantages.

I'm also worried about my friend Emmett. I suspect that he's getting a little desperate for a girlfriend. He's developed a bit of an attraction to my dormmate Debbie. Now, Debbie is all right, but -- well -- she spends a lot of her time just -- standing around. Not doing anything, just -- standing. It's rather unnerving.

I've tried to get to know her better, for Emmett's sake, but she's brushed off most of my attempts at conversation. We don't see eye-to-eye on much.

I had Emmett over the other day and talked to him about it. He seemed a little upset at first -- claiming I didn't want to get to know her. But then he softened and admitted he just wanted someone to care about him. "I haven't had many friends in my life, Emma -- even BEFORE my breakthrough. And my one previous girlfriend. . .the less said about her, the better. I don't even care too much about a permanent relationship any more -- can't I just flirt a little?"
Well, I'm not his mother and I certainly can't deny him that. The poor dear does seem so lonely. . . . I can't say that this proto-relationship will last too long, though. He may flirt with her, but I think he noticed the way she smelled. (I'm starting to wonder if she's a bit mentally handicapped.)

Other than that, I suppose things haven't been that bad. My quest for knowledge continues unabated -- I'm setting aside time every day to work on my skills.

My little garden is thriving! My strawberries have well recovered from their overwatering, and now I have a fine crop of six to stock my juicer. Mmm, fresh strawberry juice.

And, of course, I have my little circle of friends. I think I shall set up another outing soon -- our last one was a bit of a bust, yes, but practice makes perfect.

And, though it may be forward of me, I want to play matchmaker for Emmett. He and Noelle seemed to get on over chess. . . .

Well, there's plenty of time to think about it. Right now, I need to see what the lunch menu is for today. Please be something other than macaroni and cheese. . . .
